The Worldwide Uchinanchu Business Network (WUB) is an NPO established to strengthen partnerships among Okinawan business people around the world, creating a network and promoting members business activities.

The 21st annual WUB Symposium took place in Hawaii on September 1st, 2017. This year, key themes included renewable energy and the Okinawa Hawaii Clean Energy Cooperation. GOSEA was invited to speak at the event. In addition to attending the symposium, we met with Elemental Excelerator to learn about their incubator activities, Hawaii State Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism, and the Japan Consulate General in Honolulu.

The WUB Workshop provided an interesting opportunity to learn about the state of renewable energy from speakers from around the world, but with a connection to Okinawa. Highlights included Hawaii Electric Company CEO Alan Oshima, Jon Yoshimura of Tesla, Sunao Tamaki CEO of ENETEC, and Jay Ignacio of Hawaii Electric Light CO.
