In addition to continuing past topics, this year’s special theme was Resiliency, Energy Security, and Sustainability.

Governor David Ige and Representative Lowen of Hawai’i, the US DOE, and Okinawa Prefecture provided greeting via letter or in person.

Vincent Paul Pontieux of Blue Planet Research provided the keynote “The Balance of Power and Energy:  Innovative Approach to Resilience using BESS and H2.”

Highlights from the first day include presentations by the State of Hawai’i’s Chief Energy Officer Scott Glenn, a Talk Story with panelists highlighting the past 10 years of cooperation, and talk from Oracle Japan’s Ken Haig on how Behavioral Science is improving awareness and education on energy in Japan.
